9.1 Tutorial
Mate with king and queen only works at the edge of the noard. Your own king needs to help. Possible mating patterns look like these.
Algorithm: Force the king to the edge of the board - bring up your own king to help
How do you force the king to the edge of the board? The queen does that on its own.
- Keep the queen a knight move away from the king and deprive it of more and more space.
- As soon as the king is on the edge of the board keep it stuck there with your queen.
- Then bring up your own king to deliver mate
9.2 Exercises
Move directly on the board to input a solution. Either click first on the start square and then on the target square. Or click on the piece, hold on to it, move it tot he target square and let go of it. The button ‘Left arrow’ takes back the move.
